Havasu Falls is without question one of the most amazing places on earth. “Havasupai” means “people of the blue green water”, and this natural wonder is the sacred home of many of the Havasupai people. This hike begins at Hualapai Hilltop, making a 10 mile descent through Hualapai Canyon and Havasu Canyon, pass Supai Village to the campground. From here, we access world renown Mooney and Havasu Falls. These spectacular turquoise waterfalls drop into cool travertine pools making some of the world’s best swimming holes. You are required to carry water and all belongings you will need for the day. There are also options for helicopter or horse transport. After arriving at Hilltop, we will start are descent into Hualapai Canyon. Hiking through the narrows of the Esplanade before we come to the lush, green canyon of Havasu. From here we will follow the blue-green water to Supai Village.

Shortly out of this quaint and hidden village we will come to Navajo Falls. Navajo Falls is the first major falls in the series. Tucked off the trail, most people don’t even know it is there. The water here is dispersed and comes from the canopy in a panoramic of white, trickling waters. We can stop here for a swim and maybe take a 30 ft plunge.

Continuing down the trail, we come to Havasu Falls. One look and you will realize why people travel from all over the world just to bath in the swimming hole below. The breathtaking beauty of this sight can make you feel as if you left this world. After falling 100 ft to the blue-green travertine pool below, the water continues it’s coarse cutting through the Redwall Limestone.

With large cottonwoods and a natural spring nearby, you will quickly see why we set up camp here. The serenading sound of tumbling white waters from wall to wall will ensure a good nights sleep. The water here pools and falls, creating the most amazing campground in Arizona.

The campground ends abruptly with a 200 ft plunge over Mooney Falls. The largest of the four falls measures in taller than Niagara.

To make it to the bottom, the explorer will have to climb through two tunnels blasted into the travertine formation and an exposed face laced with a chain and footholds carved into the rock.

If you have not retreated, a 3 mile journey to Beaver Falls could be on the menu. Crossing the water several times, climbing up ropes and over cliffs, all the while stopping at hidden pools and rope swings for a dip, make the journey the destination. Having lunch at Beaver Falls you will realize you are on the best day hike in the world.

Group Size
There is no minimum group size. Havasu Falls has no limit.

Booking an Havasu Falls
Overnight backpacks can be booked from 2 days to 2 years in advance. However backpacking permits are limited and sometimes very difficult to obtain, we highly advise making reservations 6 months or more in advance. Although we can almost always make last minute reservations, there is no guarantee, so the earlier the better.

Cancellation Policy for Havasu Falls
A 50 percent deposit is due upon booking. Overnight backpacks must be paid in full 30 days prior to your trip. If you must cancel, a 50 percent refund will be given on all deposits taken.

Can I Join an Existing Trip?
Anyone can join an existing trip if there are openings. You can also request a private trip, however extra fees may apply (call to inquire about private trips).

Physical Fitness
Moderate physical fitness is needed for our backpack trips. Our more challenging trips will require not only a higher lever of fitness but also some level of Grand Canyon or desert backpacking experience. Please let us know of any health problems or concerns before your trip.

We can pick up at any hotel in Flagstaff, Williams, or Seligman, AZ. Seligman is the closest to the trailhead We recommend The Canyon Lodge 928-422-3255.

What’s Included
All necessary gear, food, permits, guide, etc…
You will be responsible for your own clothing, shoes, toothbrush, hat, camera, etc. We will provide a client checklist.
